Software Architect

Paul Sorensen, a software architect at FirstWatch, is focused on designing and developing next-generation data analytics tools for FirstWatch, including applications of generative AI to assist agencies in exploring and understanding their data. Paul’s academic training includes a bachelor’s degree in computer science, a master’s in urban planning, and a doctorate in geography, and his 30+ years of work experience include both software development and public policy research, concentrated in the fields of transportation and public safety. In the mid-1990s, Paul led the team that designed and developed the original version of the ResourcePlanner, and his initial work with FirstWatch focused on modernizing this tool for the web.
