Top-notch customer service is a priority of every FirstWatch team member – including those whose job it is to support the internal team. Just ask Mercedes Mancuso. Hired in 2012 as the human resources office manager, Mercedes is responsible for taking care of the internal “customers” at FirstWatch, ensuring every member of the team is taken care of through every function she performs, whether it’s dealing with human resources or accounting. “I like that my position requires a lot of different skills and the challenge of handling a variety of tasks, but most of all, I like taking care of people, ” she says.

Mercedes received her Human Resource Certificate from UCSD. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), National Human Resources Association (NHRA), and National Notary Association (NNA). Prior to FirstWatch, Mercedes worked for 13 plus years at a major public safety software company, as well as Laser Power Corporation where she was first introduced to the world of human resources.

Mercedes loves to travel – she’s been to Jamaica, Paris, Amsterdam, Hawaii, Washington, DC, and New York – and she counts Australia, Spain, England, Alaska and Japan among her “dream” trips. (Little known fact: She was actually born in Japan but was too young to remember living there!) On weekends you can find Mercedes and her family, walking, biking, barbecuing, bowling, or enjoying a local event together. She enjoys doing volunteer work with her son, including beach and river clean-ups, trail maintenance, events for the Special Olympics and projects to benefit abused women and children, and says, “The time spent together has helped to build an even stronger bond between the two of us, as well as help the community.”
