Pam Farber, RN, EMT-P
Pam works with us to provide information and summarize alerts, advisories, guidelines, and articles regarding flu and other infectious disease outbreaks across the United States, Canada and throughout the world. She has worked in some form of medicine for more than 35 years, including practicing as an RN, then a firefighter/paramedic, and more than two and a half decades as the Paramedic Instructor & Infection Control Nurse for a busy urban fire-rescue department, where she taught EMS, served as the Infection Control Nurse and IAED EMD Instructor, and provided expertise in bioterrorism and haz-mat/toxicology. She served as past chair & current member of the IAED CBRN Committee, volunteer faculty for a nearby university, and was a co-investigator for two published articles in medical journals. Pam has been working with FirstWatch for more than ten years, first as a Clinical Advisor, and then as Sales Support Public Health Advisor, providing us with not only weekly flu status updates, but also with significant information and related articles on infectious disease outbreaks & other public health issues, first responder health & safety, and pandemic awareness & planning. Pam’s other areas of expertise include CQI & medical chart review, medicolegal issues, protocol & policy development, health & safety of firefighters, occupational health, and mass casualty incidents.
