In August 2025, all 25 members of the National EMS Advisory Council (NEMSAC) were abruptly terminated via a letter from the Office of EMS, with no clear public explanation. This sudden dissolution suspends a federally chartered advisory body that has long served as the only statutorily authorized conduit between the EMS community and federal policymakers. The disruption leaves numerous in-progress advisories, expert working groups, and collaborative initiatives in limbo, threatening delayed guidance on workforce, data, patient care, and system modernization. In this roundtable, leading EMS stakeholders will dissect the termination’s possible motivations, assess national operational and policy fallout, and explore pathways for restoring an effective federal advisory role for EMS.

How To Be an Effective Data-Driven Leader
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Room 116-117

Co-Speakers
Mike Taigman MA, FAEMS
Remle Crowe PhD, NREMT

We used to say, “We need more data.” Now, we are swimming in a sea of data from dispatch, electronic medical records, scheduling systems, payroll, and more. Unskilled leaders use data as a weapon to manipulate. They share it in ways that blame, cause fear, and cause damage to the systems they lead. Effective leaders use data to empower their teams to make measurable improvements. They display data in ways that allow people to extract accurate meaning at a glance. They know what measures are meaningful and how to asses trends and patterns in valid ways. In this interactive session, you’ll learn the skills, tips, and tricks for becoming a truly effective data-driven leader.
