Paramedic Chiefs of Canada – Inclusive Leadership for Strategic System Impact

Instructions to join are below description and speakers.
February 19th | 9:00 am PDT (12:00 pm EDT)
Inclusive Leadership for System Impact considers how leaders working across emergency, community, and integrated care systems strengthen both equity and performance in their services. Healthcare systems are shaped by policies and resources, but in practice it’s the everyday choices around people, priorities, and information that often determine how a system works, and how it is experienced by staff and patients. This webinar explores how inclusion, trauma-informed practice, and equity-focused leadership directly influence system outcomes, from staff wellbeing and retention to patient experience, continuity of care, and community trust. Drawing on real-world examples and evidence from health and mental health systems research and behavioural science, participants are invited to consider how leadership behaviours, structural oversights, and system structures affect who is heard, who benefits, and who is unintentionally left out. Participants gain insights into how they might enhance their decision-making, strengthen collaboration across the system, and create environments that support fairer, safer, and more resilient care.

Dr Nargis Islam is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and mental health systems strategist with over twenty years’ experience in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), academic settings, and international development. She focuses on how leadership, staff experience, and system structures shape the quality, safety, and fairness of care. As Clinical Lead for Inpatient Psychological Therapy for an NHS Mental Health Trust, she works alongside frontline teams and with senior leaders to support services in delivering care that is psychologically and trauma-informed, and grounded in principles of equity and equality. Nargis has led national work on revising Clinical Psychology training standards as Chair of the National Standards Accreditation Committee and has worked with humanitarian and development sector organisations to support the development of inclusive and locally grounded mental health services. She regularly lectures and advises on inclusive leadership, workforce equity, and approaches to developing healthier, more effective care providing teams.
