Chris Carlson, FirstWatch Senior Product Manager

Chris is a former paramedic, firefighter, and Fire Chief, but In addition to his field experience, Chris has held a variety of leadership roles including serving as a Board Member of the League of California Cities and California Fire Chiefs Association, Chief Operations Officer at Transcare, and Vice President of Xerox Corporation. Chris holds both an MBA and Bachelor’s Degree from University of Redlands and an Executive Fire Officer Certification from the National Fire Academy. He has significant entrepreneurial and venture capital experience, working in a leadership role with two different financial services firms.

 

Mike Taigman

Mike Taigman, MA, FAEMS, Improvement Guide

A former paramedic, Mike has authored more than 600 articles in professional journals and worked with emergency services and healthcare organizations in 49 of the 50 states, most of the Canadian Provinces, Israel, Palestine, Australia, and throughout Europe. Mike serves as Improvement Guide for FirstWatch. He teaches improvement science as an Assistant Professor in the University of California San Francisco’s MS in Healthcare Administration and Interprofessional Leadership and as an Adjunct Professor in UMBC’s MA in Emergency Health Services Management.

 

Brett Ciskoski

Brett Ciskoski, District Chief, St. Petersburg Fire Rescue Department

Brett is a District Chief with the St. Petersburg Fire Rescue Department, where he has served since 2002. He has been the department’s accreditation manager, as well as strategic planning coordinator, since 2016. Ciskoski is a member of the Marine Response Team, state-certified Instructor 3, and holds an array of National Fire Academy command-level courses. He is chairman of the St. Petersburg Fire Fighter’s Pension board and a trustee of a decade. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Fire Science and Emergency Management from St. Petersburg College and a master’s in Public Administration from Barry University.

 

Brian J. Frankel, Assistant Chief, Operations Command, Stafford County Fire and Rescue

Brian currently serves as the Assistant Chief of Operations for the Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department. He retired in 2021 after serving for over 20 years in the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department. Prior to working for Prince George’s County, he spent seven years in the United States Air Force. Brian holds a Master’s In Public Safety Leadership with a focus on Executive Fire Administration. Throughout his career, Brian has been an advocate for using data to improve organizational performance and resource utilization efficiencies.

 

Robert Whitaker, Fire Chief, North Shore Fire/Rescue

Robert has been the Fire Chief at North Shore Fire/Rescue since 2010. North Shore Fire/Rescue provides fire suppression, emergency medical services and community risk reduction services to seven communities from five stations. The seven communities have a population of approximately 70,000 people. The Department has been accredited by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International since 2016. Chief Whitaker has a Masters Degree in Fire and Emergency Management from Oklahoma State University.
